Been to see Seether

Seether (Wikipedia, Official site) are a great rock band from South Africa currently based in the USA. They made a return home part of their current tour and I was able to go see them at NMMU Indoor Sports Centre in Port Elizabeth last night.

So what can I say about the show? Well, obviously it ROCKED seriously. It was a very good live performance, the band are very good at keeping the crowd rocking and time the mega-hit songs very well. As usual, a fantastic vocal performance from Shaun Morgan, with his raw feeling voice that manages to be quite smooth at the same time. Another noteworthy performance was an absolutely fantastic solo from drummer John Humphrey while the other guys popped backstage for a quick change of shirts.

All in all an enjoyable experience that I'm very happy indeed to have had.

Just one little criticism for the actual venue. Now I know there's very little in terms of indoor venues that can host rock shows in Port Elizabeth, but the NMMU Indoor Sports Center is a sports center first. Acoustically it's an annoyance for lovers of good music, since it's basically a big high-roofed rectangle with bare brick walls and a wood floor.
